Nagahama and Coca-Cola reached an agreement: Free drinks will be provided in case of disasters.

Nagahama City made an agreement with Mikasa Coca-Cola Bottling Ltd. about procuring drinking water in case of disasters.

According to "Agreement on cooperation of water provided for disasters," Coca-Cola stockpiles drinking water, and supplies water for areas damaged by disasters such as earthquakes and floods. Moreover, the company placed two "disaster-coping vending machines" at Nagahama City Office.

The vending machines are capable of providing drinks for free if they are remotely controlled by computers as well as directly used with special keys. The machines, also equipped with electric bulletin boards that show information on disasters, can work with batteries if electricity supply is stopped.
