New fiscal year begins: Governor Kada seeks "visible government"

Facing the beginning of the fiscal year 2008, Governor Kada talked about her aspirations at a regular press conference on April 1. Her motto is "visible government" this year. She showed her intention to inform citizens of the way how tax is used, mentioning disclosing policy formation processes more precisely.

"It is primarily important for me to disclose formation of the budget," Kada says. She also talked about the need to introduce a new policy to make taxpayers more cost-conscious.

The reason for her plan is that the budget proposals the governor formulated were partly rejected and modified by the Prefectural Assembly. "I'm thinking over why my proposals were not supported by the Assembly and the people of Shiga," Kada says. "I should have paid more attention to that."
