Governor Kada invited Governors of Kyoto and Osaka

Governor Kada on August 23 invited Governor Yamada of Kyoto and Governor Hashimoto of Osaka to discuss disaster prevention measures regarding Yodo River and related areas. The meeting was held at Uminoko, a ship designed to observe Lake Biwa.

The summit meeting was planned by Governor Kada, celebrating 25th anniversary of Uminoko that has helped children learn about Lake Biwa and the environment. The excursion was accompanied by 97 citizens who were to measure the water transparency and to observe plankton.

At the meeting Governor Kada briefed Lake Biwa's problems caused by low oxygen and water pollution. The three governors are to talk about disaster prevention measures and federalization (merger of prefectural governments).
