Kusatsu City to ban smoking in designated areas

Kusatsu City has launched a campaign to inform its citizens of a new rule implemented on December 1. The new rule which bans smoking in two designated areas is being advertized through a PR magazine. In addition to that, City Office placed the "No Smoking" signs on the streets around the two areas: Kusatsu Station and Minami-Kusatsu Station.

The signs were designed using mainly black and yellow to attract pedestrians' attention. City Office has already placed them at 99 spots around the two stations. The city plans to set additional signboards. "We would like to make further efforts to inform citizens of the new rule," a city official says.
