Taxpayers' bank accounts were seized by Prefecturel Government

Shiga Prefectural Government seized taxpayers' 371 bank accounts because they hadn't paid prefectural taxes. This enabled the SPG to collect 15.6 million yen in total. The targeted citizens were those who hadn't paid car tax from 2006 to 2008. They ignored paying in spite of several requests made by the prefectural government.

This is the second time for the SPG to conduct collective action like this. The number of cases this year has increased by 103, and the property seized has increased by 2.8 million yen. This result derives from the SPG's thorough efforts to inquire financial institutions to investigate the property of the targeted citizens.

"We will continue to conduct measures against those who are capable of paying but don't do it, " says an official of the SPG.
