Illegal dumping in Koka: Pref. Government to file a criminal action

Shiga Prefectural Government on March 10th filed a criminal action against an industrial waste management company for illegal dumping. The SPG already asked the Prefectural Police Headquarters to investigate the case.

The accused are two executives who manage Miyatani Kenzai, a Konan City-based corporation. They are believed to have violated the Waste Disposal and Public Cleaning Law by dumping industrial waste in an undesignated site in Kasuga, Koka City.

In June 2006 Miyauchi Kenzai received an order according to the law to get rid of the industrial waste, but the company did nothing until December 22, 2008, the deadline of the order.
