Otsu joins the Mayors for Peace

Otsu joined the Mayors for Peace, a conference that consists of cities advocating the abolishment of nuclear weapons. Otsu is Shiga's 12th city taking part in the conference.

The conference was established by the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1982. 2963 cities from 134 states have got affiliated with the conference which have made protests against nuclear weapons.

The Mayors for Peace started asking domestic cities to join it last year, and Otsu became a member in the early July.
