Pref. Government seized citizens' bank accounts due to non-payment of prefectural taxes

Shiga Prefectural Government just recently seized citizens' bank accounts due to non-payment of prefectural taxes. The number of cases reported is 464, and the total amount of money seized is 18 million yen.

This is the third attachment this year, conducted by the SPG from December 1 to 15. The number of cases is more numerous than it was last year by 93, and the amount of money seized has increased by 2,380 thousand yen compared to 2008.

"We have taken more rigid approach including the enhanced property inspection and organization against those who didn't pay taxes," says a spokesperson of the SPG.
