Shiga Prefecture's budget proposal for FY 2010 increased by 1.9%

Shiga Prefecture announced on February 9 that its budget proposal for the fiscal year 2010 is 494.63 billion yen. The budget proposed has increased by 1.9% compared to the fiscal year 2009, with the national government's economic stimulation package designed to execute via local governments. Despite the little augmentation above, the fact is that the prefecture has formulated a restrained budget for three years in a row.

The proposal, focused on major 8 categories in line with Governor Kada's manifesto announced in 2006, will be presented at the prefectural assembly starting on February 16. Those categories are: (1) medical treatment and welfare, (2) disaster prevention, (3) child care, (4) the preservation of Lake Biwa, (5) global warming, (6) industrial development, (7) tourism, and (8) labor market.
