Pref. Government to conduct an organizational reform

Shiga Prefectural Government on March 12 unveiled its plan to conduct an organizational reform regarding the fiscal year 2010. For instance, in order to deal with the need to improve the prefecture's image and to attract more tourists, Tourism and International Exchange Bureau will be created by combining two divisions - Tourism Promotion Division and International Affairs Division. Another prominent change is that Global Warming Prevention Office, currently a sub-division of Environmental Policy Division, will be upgraded to the status of an independent division.

Having experienced stigma that an executive was prosecuted for bribery, the prefecture has also declared that it will have every staff member, those who are involved in attracting business, rotated every three years. This reform plan will contribute to reducing the number of employees by 302 in total since FY 2008.
