Shiga takes next step to join the "Kansai Unity"

On August 18th, the Shiga Prefectural Government unveiled its plan to propose a draft of an agreement to establish the "Kansai Unity." The proposal will be discussed at the prefectural assembly in September. The new organization, which seven prefectures including Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga are likely to join, is an administrative entity that the national government will delegate more authority.

To establish the Kansai Unity, each prefecture eager to join the organization has to ask its assembly to approve it. The seven governors agreed in January that each prefecure would propose the draft to their assembly within 2010.
