Prefectural Assembly: Japan Communist Party lost all the seats

The first round of local elections was held on April 10, with 41 out of Japan's 47 prefectures voting for local assemblies and some governorships. In regard to Shiga where 47 seats were offered, the Japan Communist Party lost all their seats at the Prefectural Assembly, making the party disappear from the prefecture-level politics.

The JCP had been keeping 3 seats until the election for which the party's 6 nominated candidates run. According to the party's Shiga-based committee, the party has never experienced this situation since it first appeared in 1971.
