Governor Kada promoted Shiga's tourism in Beijing.

Governor Kada, now visiting China, attended a seminar to promote Shiga's tourism in Beijing on July 20. The seminar, hosted by the Union of Kansai Governments, aimed at promoting the Kansai Region as a tourist destination, and the governor gave a presentation proposing  4 suggested itineraries which cover 5 prefectures.

The governor, who has visited China with 5 other governors, talked about the environment of Lake Biwa in front of 130 travel agents and journalists, underscoring how Shiga would be appropriate as a tourist destination for young students.

Shiga is on the Golden Route featuring major tourist sites between Tokyo and Osaka, which attracts many international tourists. Despite this advantage, the prefecture is still relatively unknown. In addition to that, the recent crisis triggered by the nuclear reactor problem has deeply damaged the tourism industry.
