79% of the people of Shiga desire to reside in the prefecture permanently.

The latest poll conducted by the Shiga Prefectural Government shows that 79% of the people of Shiga desire to reside in the prefecture permanently, adding 2 points to the previous year's survey.

The survey this time was conducted from June 7 to 30 with questionnaires sent to 3,000 citizens and replied by 1,664.

In regard to the prefectural government in general, more than half of the citizens feel  satisfied with the development of the prefecture-produced food items and of infrastructure able to allow a close contact between nature and residents. On the other hand, 43% of the people are dissatisfied with public transportation, and 33% are disappointed with the child-raising environment.

With disaster prevention measures after the Great East Japan Earthquake, many citizens pointed out the need to strengthen networks of information, of health service, and of emergency provisions.
