Shiga Prefecture to attract the Chinese film industry

The Shiga Prefectural Government is inviting leaders of the Chinese film industry to familiarize them with the prefecture from October 29 to 30, aiming at encouraging international productions to be filmed there.

The Chinese delegation about to visit Shiga consists of 22 representatives from top-notch film production companies such as China Film Group Corporation and Shanghai Film Group Corporation. They will be visiting Shiga's tourist sites after taking part in the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival that started on October 22. The delegation is to see Hikone Castle (Hikone City), the Omi Merchants' Village (Higashiomi City), Hachiman Moat (Omihachiman City) and Miho Museum (Koka City).

"It's a great opportunity for us to have so many Chinese producers here in Shiga. We will definitely make use of this experience to attract international productions," says an official of the Shiga Location Office, a section within the Prefecture.
