Yasu City decided to buy a land owned by Asahi Breweries Ltd.

Asahi Breweries Ltd's president Akiyoshi Koji had a meeting with Yasu City Mayor Yoshiaki Yamanaka at the city office, confirming that the city will buy a 9,300-square-feet-land in front of JR Yasu station, owned by the Japan's breweries giant. The deal is 1.25 billion yen, and the disposal will be carried out by February 2012.

Yasu City shaped its course to purchase the property in May 2011, having discussed the issue within a special committee and so on, after the beer company sounded the city office out on the land in October 2010. Yasu City informed the company of the official purchase plan in October 2011, and the proposal related to the plan was approved by the City Council this month.

The city is planning to construct a "stronghold for community-based activities" equipped with civic hall and community center.
